An afternoon of conversations around weaving practices and storytelling.
About this Event

In collaboration with KINdom, Rags Royalty and Vegan Women's Summit, House of Gongs presents Weaving Stories and Dreams, an offering to the Oahu community to connect and interact with Yakan Master Weaver Evelynda Otong Hamja and T'boli Master Storyteller and weaver, Myrna Pula from the Philippines.


The event is a space for panel discussions about Yakan and T'boli culture and conversations about the intersectionality of weaving practices in the Philippines and in Hawaii, including weaving demonstrations, performances and cultural exchange.


Panel discussion will be led by Jenna Pascual, Pinay Certified Life Coach, Facilitator and Laughter Yoga Practitioner.
This event is open to all ages. Donations will support House of Gongs continuous programming to connect culture bearers from the Philippines with the Filipinx diasporic community.


Local Hawaiian weaving practitioners will be joining the panel discussion including:

  • Pulama Long, is a cultural practitioner of Ulana Lau hala (Hawaiin Traditional Weaving) and owner of Honihala.
  • Alana Abbey, the owner, and a weaver of Papa Abbey Pāpale
  • Anthony Duong is the founder & creative behind Illikoi Goods,
    Performances include:
  • Ashton Obrero- Musician
  • Kulintronica- Kulintang x EDM
  • UH Manoa Kulintang Ensemble
    This event is open to all ages.
