Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) warmly invites you to explore our series of Masterclass events as part of the 2026 Public Program.
Learn from incredible artists, and be guided and inspired as they share their stories and knowledge of both ancient and contemporary techniques—then take home your own piece from the Fair!
Durrmu Arts is renowned for its fine, contemporary art production, particularly acrylic painting and fibre work.
This exclusive weaving masterclass will sit you down with master weaver Regina Pilawuk Wilson from Peppimenarti and Durrmu Arts.
Meet the Art Centre: Senior artist Regina Pilawuk Wilson leads a team of established and emerging artists whose works are based upon traditional weaving and durrmu (dot body painting) designs.
The women of Peppimenarti are traditionally weavers and have transposed their knowledge of fibre and textiles onto canvas. The results are paintings of intricate, abstract mark-making; some clearly representing syaw (fishnet) and wupun (basket weaving) through their layered textures, while others resemble fine tapestries. The men’s art lies in the production of body paint designs and cultural articles. Many of the male artists paint their inherited didgeridoo designs.
Be sure to stop by their DAAF booth and head to their website to learn more: durrmuarts.com.au
DAAF’s Public Program Masterclasses have been developed with both artist and participant experiences in mind. Masterclasses have a three hour time slot allocated so that participants can feel comfortable and grasp new techniques with confidence. Participant numbers are also capped to ensure an intimate experience.

Brought to you by Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, the Public Program is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government through Tourism and Events NT, Creative Australia, Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, McDonald’s Group and premium media partner Peppermint Magazine.
