Muruwari artist, Virginia Keft, invites you to spend an evening with her for a free weaving and yarning workshop in the gallery space of her immersive exhibition, Guruwa Gunya (gum tree home) at Firstdraft.

Weaving Connections is a free interactive weaving and yarning circle that supports cultural connection and builds understanding through collaborative weaving. Connect with others while you learn about the artist's connection to culture, learn sculptural weaving techniques, share a story, and discover a new skill. No prior experience is necessary; whether this is your first time, or you are a master weaver, all are welcome. Weaving materials will be provided. This is an all-ages workshop.
Accessibility
This is an all-ages, all-ability and all-gender workshop. Please note that the workshop is located indoors with a flight of stairs. People living with a disability are welcome to attend, please bring your carer/support person with you if you require assistance to participate in the workshop.
About the artist
Dr. Virginia Keft is a proud Muruwari woman, living and working on Dharawal Country and Gadigal Country. She is a multi-disciplinary award-winning artist and curator, First Nations producer, and researcher. Her practice includes painting, drawing, weaving, sculpture and installation and sound art. Virginia brings an open and positive approach to her Arts and cultural practice; promoting warm and encouraging spaces that support cultural connection and build understanding through collaborative art making.
