About this Event

In this final session, students move beyond beginner weaving and explore more complex multi‑shaft patterns. After an hour dedicated to advanced pattern weaving, you will learn how to finish your woven piece: securing the final rows, cutting the fabric from the loom, and creating tassels using the tassel tool. Students who complete all four sessions will take home their woven sample and receive a certificate of completion.

Who This Class Is For

This session is ideal for:

• Students who have completed Sessions 1–3
• OR confident beginners who already understand loom dressing, pattern reading, and basic weaving techniques

This class assumes your loom is dressed and you have already woven simple patterns.

What You Will Learn
Advanced Pattern Weaving

• Exploring more complex multi‑shaft patterns
• Understanding how pattern variations emerge from lift plans
• Practising controlled rhythm, tension, and selvedges
• Developing confidence in reading and executing advanced drafts

Finishing Techniques

• Securing the final woven rows
• Safely cutting your fabric from the loom
• Creating tassels using the tassel tool
• Preparing your woven sample for display or further finishing

You will complete your woven piece under close guidance.

Materials & Tools

All tools are provided, including:

• Tassel tool
• Scissors
• Boat shuttles & bobbins
• Ashford 8‑shaft table loom
• Natural fibres (wool, cotton, silk, bamboo, linen)

Course Completion

Students who attend all four sessions of the weaving course will:

• Take home their woven fabric sample as a personal memorabilia
• Receive a Certificate of Completion for the full weaving course
• Gain foundational multi‑shaft weaving skills from start to finish

Outcome

By the end of this session, you will:

• Execute more complex weaving patterns
• Understand finishing techniques used by professional weavers
• Cut and secure your woven fabric safely
• Create decorative tassels
• Complete your first full weaving project
