Join us for an immersive Flax Weaving Workshop, where you will explore the rich tradition of Māori weaving using harakeke (New Zealand flax). This workshop is designed for both beginners and those with some experience, providing a unique opportunity to learn about this intricate art form.Workshop Overview

- Location: The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary
- Materials: All necessary materials will be provided, including various types of harakeke. If you do have a sharp pair of scissors you prefer, please bring them with you!
What You Will Learn
- Basic Techniques: Participants will gain hands-on experience in fundamental weaving techniques, including how to prepare flax leaves and create simple woven items.
- Cultural Significance: Discover the history and cultural importance of flax weaving within Māori traditions, including the tikanga (customs) that guide this art form.
