Studies on injuries occurring in agility dogs have found that shoulder injuries occur most frequently. Several obstacles place stress on the shoulders of these athletes, including the weave pole obstacle. Dogs utilize a one-legged or two-legged forelimb gait while weaving, but differences in kinetics (forces) and kinematics (joint angles/movement) of the forelimbs associated with these differences in gait style is unknown. We aim to compare the kinetics and kinematics of the forelimbs of dogs between the two gait styles while completing the agility weave pole obstacle, and compare weave training and competition factors with weave gait style and injury.
