Where handcraft and electronics meet: weave your own USB charging cable!
About this Event

In this three-hour workshop with weaver Emma Wood, you'll take your first steps into the world of electronic textiles (e-textiles) by designing and weaving your own USB charging cable. We'll merge traditional hand-weaving fibres, tools and processes with electronic materials and components to create colourful, flexible cables. You'll be able to choose from a selection of USB connections and will have the chance to test out your cables.

No weaving or electronics experience is required, this workshop is beginner-friendly!

What’s included?

  • Your own loom for the duration of the workshop
  • All textile and electronic materials
  • Instruction sheets with optional design templates
  • Tea, coffee, water, light snacks

What will I learn?

  • The basic principles of ribbon weaving
  • How to design a warp, set up and weave on a ribbon loom
  • The basics of working with electronics

What will I make?

  • Your own USB charging cable to take home
