Weave a Table Runner

Dahlia Popovits has been designing and weaving award-winning clothing and accessories for nearly 50 years.

She exhibits her work at the Smithsonian Craft Show and teaches weaving at various art centers in the Boston area, including The Fuller Craft Museum, Worcester Craft Center, The Eliot School, Chatham Center for the Arts, and Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.

Learn to master the art of hand weaving. Warp and weave a table runner to be taken home at the end of the class.

No previous experience is necessary, as Dahlia will guide you through the weaving, design, and finishing process.

We will weave with repurposed cotton fabric strips and luxury yarns on rigid heddle looms. Each student will be encouraged to see this way of weaving as a potential form of art and design, which will be foremost in determining a unique table runner.

Consider bringing your own fabrics to cut into strips and weave with. These can include a son’s flannel shirt, a husband’s neckties, patterned sheets that are no longer in service, etc. Dahlia will also have many cotton fabric strips to choose from.

The materials fee for this class is $25. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in cash or through Venmo.

Students must be 14 years old or older. All students under t18 must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.
