Join us at Flatford Mill to weave a foraging basket. This workshop is for anyone wanting to try their hand at the ancient craft of basketmaking. It is suitable for beginners and will give an introduction to working with willow. In this workshop you will create one of the oldest styles of basket, used for centuries whilst foraging for fruit and berries. You will be introduced to working with English willow and take away the knowledge you need to get started on your own. You will understand the materials you need and how to source them, be aware of the tools required, and will have learned the skills needed to make a hoop framed basket. In addition to having a new understanding of the craft and respect for the craftsmen and women of the past, you will have a beautifully organic basket to be used and enjoyed for many years to come.
This will be a relaxed workshop. There will be plenty of demonstrations and help will be on hand at every stage
Refreshments are included, but please bring lunch with you.
