About this Event

Celebrate fearless women who refused to play by the rules. This trolley tour spotlights Green-Wood’s pioneering women who defied convention and changed the world in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

You’ll learn about Grace Nail Johnson, a civil rights activist and cultural force in the Harlem Renaissance; Louisine Havemeyer, the socialite-turned-suffragist who was arrested for trying to burn an effigy of President Woodrow Wilson on the White House lawn; and Elizabeth Gloucester, a savvy entrepreneur whose fortune helped fund John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry. And that’s just to name a few; each stop introduces you to another bold woman whose courage and conviction still resonate today.

This trolley tour is offered at a discounted rate to make Green-Wood's rich history more accessible to the public.

Please note that if only 1 ticket shows as available during the purchase process that is the last ticket available.

Before Purchasing Your Ticket, Please Note:

  • Tickets: There is no need to print tickets! Attendees will be checked in by name.
  • Where To Go: Check-in takes place at the trolley by the Gothic Arch near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).
