About this Event
Unknowingly, we can undermine our loved one’s end-of-life wishes by calling 911 or performing CPR. This discussion is an opportunity for people to feel more prepared, rather than panicked, when a loved one’s time comes, or our own.
Join us for a facilitated discussion with professionals in the field, Eric Jaeger & Kate Tuttle, where they invite you to bring questions of your own to this important conversation.
Eric Jaeger is an attorney, paramedic and EMS educator. He holds a Bachelor of Science from MIT and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School. Eric is also an American Heart Association CPR teaching faculty. For ten years, he was the EMS educator at the Exeter Hospital emergency department. He lectures frequently, including at national and state conferences, including on issues related to DNR and Advanced Directives.
Kate Tuttle is a geriatric nurse practitioner currently working with York Hospital, making house calls throughout York County. With over ten years of experience in palliative care and hospice, she is passionate about end-of-life planning and goals of care discussions. Having worked in hospitals, Kate has witnessed resuscitation attempts and ICU outcomes, emphasizing the importance of clear decision-making and proper documentation for those wishing for a natural death. She is dedicated to helping patients and families navigate these difficult conversations and ensuring that individuals’ wishes are respected.
Facilitated by:
Laura Cleminson, is the Founder of the Pre-Dead Social Club.INELDA-trained death doula, hospice volunteer and Member of the NH Health Care Decisions Coalition. She believes unless we create consistent opportunities for people to come together (before a crisis or serious diagnosis) to explore and better understand today’s complex process of dying...a peaceful, final exit will remain elusive. We can reduce the amount of personal and emotional toll taken on people dying, their families, those who care for them, and our medical community at large if we talk about options sooner, rather than when it’s too late.
You'll go home understanding:
- The Reality of a 911 Call
- Common Mistakes & Misconceptions
- Legal & Medical Protocols That Override Personal Wishes
- How to Prepare Now – For When
- What Important Documents You'll Want to Have Completed
