The day has come. The Supreme Court has officially overturned the vital Roe v. Wade. The constitution will no longer protect our right to safe and accessible abortion. Indiana is one of the many states at high risk of banning abortion altogether.We have so much to lose from life-saving medical care, quality medical care, and even contraceptives!
Governor Holcomb signed a proclamation calling Indiana lawmakers to a Special Session at the State House on July 25th (originally set for the 6th). He has made it particularly clear that he intends to ban abortion during this time.
Gov. Holcomb has already issued a statement in support of this ban. In the article (linked below), Rafford quotes Holcomb:
"I have been clear in stating I am pro-life," Holcomb said. "We have an opportunity to make progress in protecting the sanctity of life, and that’s exactly what we will do."
We cannot back down. On Wednesday, July 6th, 12p at 8 p at the west entrance of the Indiana State House there will be a special session to address multiple issues, including abortion in Indiana. Join us in peacefully welcoming the legislators to their session with our demands in hand. We must demand every person’s continued right to safe, accessible, and legal abortion.
In this dire time we must amplify our voices, empower each other, educate the masses and ourselves, and agitate further action. I hope to see many of you there.
This is a state of emergency and we will NOT stand down.
