About this Event
At this At-Home event, historian and podcast host Mary Mahoney will speak on the pop culture that leads us to our queerness, focusing on American Girl.
Drawing on insights from her book, Dolls of Our Lives: Why We Can't Quit American Girl, Dr. Mahoney will explore the queerness that fans read into the brand, and invite conversation about the many books, shows, music, and beyond that helped us identify and develop our queerness.
After the talk, attendees will be invited to collaborate on a mini-zine celebrating the pop culture that made them feel seen.
**Copies of Mary Mahoney's books will be available for purchase and signing**
All are welcome at this hybrid event! The Lesbian Herstory Archives welcomes all to come visit, explore the collections and do research. No fee for this use is charged. Gender identity, sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, religion or dis/ability will never be barriers for use of the Archives collection.
