We Hike to Heal - Middle Georgia (Macon)FREE Women's Group Hike

We'll be hiking the Brown's Mount trail which is a 2 mile trail just 90 miles southwest of Atlanta and 10 miles from downtown Macon. This is a easy/moderate hike with beautiful views at the top. We welcome all fitness levels to join us; the goal is to enjoy the journey, we are never in a race! This trail can be done with trekking poles or a cane, if needed.

Once we reach the Summit (summit is rather grand, it's only +183 in elevation,) we'll plan to take a break to catch our breath, enjoy the view and do a little gratitude journaling!

Location/Directions: take the Ocmulgee East Blvd/GA 23 exit off of I-16 (exit 6,) head south on GA 23. After about 1.25 miles, turn right onto Bondsview Road (there is a brown sign for Brown's Mount.) Take the first left onto Joe Brown Drive and the entrance to Brown's Mount is the first left, which is a gravel drive. Park in the grassy area at the trailhead.

Difficulty level/Distance: EASY/MODERATE/2 MILES

Restroom Facilities: There are restrooms at the trailhead but they are usually locked so plan to find a tree and practice LNT.

What you will need for this hike:

• Plenty of water to drink! (we recommend at least 1-3 liters)
• Tick preventative (long pants and socks and/or spray
• Sunblock and/or hat to protect you from the sun
• Comfortable hiking shoes/boots or trail sneakers
• Comfortable moisture wicking clothing - workout clothes work just fine!
• A daypack/backpack to carry all your items
• A towel to sit on if you're uncomfortable sitting on the ground
• Your journal and a pen
