Gear Up & Go is WE HIKE’s signature three‑part summer program designed to prepare hikers of all ages and experience levels for safe, informed, and enjoyable adventures in our desert and mountain environments.
Free workshops. Free sunrise hikes. Community‑powered outdoor education. Grab your free tickets and register today. There will be no walk ins at this free event.
WE HIKE presents Gear Up & Go, a free all-inclusive outdoor safety experience designed to help the Borderland community explore the outdoors safely, confidently, and together.
Join us Saturday, at the El Paso Convention Center in the Ocotillo Room for an interactive indoor experience focused on outdoor safety in urban, desert, and mountain environments.
Suggested to arrive downtown by 9:30 AM, check in at Visit El Paso through the Visit El Paso Visitors Center entrance.
Designed for all ages, abilities, and experience levels, this welcoming community experience includes hands-on activities, real-world safety education, group interaction, and practical skills for hiking, walking, biking, running, and exploring the outdoors.
Participants will learn about:
• Heat awareness and hydration
• Outdoor preparedness and navigation
• Group hiking safety
• Borderland trail conditions and safety tips
Everyone who attends the class is invited to join the free community sunrise hike the following morning, with accessible options available.
