A weekend of discovering spontaneous improvisational music creation that is both fun and deeply transformative!
What if music is not something reserved for performers, professionals, or the naturally gifted?
What if music is part of who we are?
Join Michael DeMaria and Mary Knysh, Music for People facilitators and longtime colleagues, for an intimate weekend exploring improvisation, deep listening, creativity, and authentic human connection.
Grounded in the pioneering work of David Darling and Bonnie Insull, and inspired by themes explored in The Musical Human, this experiential workshop invites participants to rediscover music as a birthright rather than a skill to be mastered.
Together, we'll create a welcoming and playful environment where musicians and non-musicians alike can explore sound, rhythm, silence, movement, and spontaneous expression. Through guided experiences, group improvisations, reflection, and community music-making, we'll discover how music can connect us more deeply to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
This is not a performance workshop.
It is an invitation to listen, respond, create, and belong.
During the Weekend We Will Explore
Improvisation as a path of discovery and presence
The power of deep listening
Creativity beyond judgment and perfection
Music as a universal human language
