Just as our waterways connect neighborhoods, our stories connect generations.
Join us for the first event in a storytelling series celebrating the coastal stories of Deep East Oakland residents.
Enjoy food, build community, and take part in storytelling activities that explore your connection to and history with the shoreline. Participants who attend and actively engage in these activities will receive a $50 gift card.
Whether you've lived here your whole life or are new to the neighborhood, your story matters. Come share, listen, and help preserve our shoreline history for future generations.
This event is part of an ongoing storytelling series that will help build a living community archive of Deep East Oakland's coastal history.
This project is funded by the California State Coastal Conservancy through the Coastal Stories Grant Program and is led by the Brower Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy Studies in partnership with Hood Planning Group and Ninth Root.
The entrance is located on 1 Swan Way, Oakland Ca 94621. Keep driving (walking or biking) toward the back to the the last parking lot. There are 3 parking lots total. One at the entrance, one in between, and one at the end. If you need help with directions on the day of please call:
