About this Event
From Monday 10th of October (World Homeless Day) to Friday 14th of October we will be activating the Ellen Melville Centre, Albert Cottage, and the Central Library to celebrate the strength, resilience and diversity of people with a lived experience of homelessness.
We are working with two lived experience experts and community partners to facilitate a range of events and activities across five days that aim to foster intercultural connection and raise awareness within the community of the impacts of homelessness. Such as, what it means to be without a home and how the community can get involved so that homelessness becomes ‘brief, rare and non-recurring…’.
As part of this event, we will activate the Big Screen on the Ground Floor at Central Library. We will show films and documentaries to spark discussion and assist the community to learn more about the impacts of homelessness.
We will also provide a reading list for those interested in reading more about housing and homelessness issues.
Tea and Coffee will be provided at 2:00pm each day between Monday 10th and Friday 14th.
