? What does it take for a choreographer to take-off? A community of supportive artists, teachers, and collaborators!? “We__ before takeoff” is a celebration of the communities that influenced JM Cabling’s choreographies throughout his career so far. A retrospective and thanksgiving before Teacher JM takes off for his six month residency at NYC, we celebrate the UP Dance Company; Sanghiyas Pangkat Mananayaw; dancers Abbey Carlos, Michael Que, Sarah Samaniego, and Dingdong Selga; and Guang Ming Dance Project dancing to works by JM, with select pieces by his mentor Victor Flor.
? Threaded through a narrative of artistic growth that started from humble beginnings dancing ‘novelty’ dances, to crafting choreographic works for the public, we showcase an appreciation of all the varied forms of dance that take shape through coming together to move.
