Join the High Line Canal Conservancy and Aurora Parks and Rec for our Care for the Canal: Community W**d Removal on Wednesday, June 16 from 5:00-7:30 pm in the Urban Refuge of Aurora!We will reach out via email to registered participants as we approach the event date to confirm the exact location and final event details, including the parking location. We will walk the Canal removing invasive weeds to help promote the native vegetation of the Canal.
The High Line Canal Conservancy is committed to keeping our community and volunteers safe. Our summer stewardship programs have been adapted in order to continue our mission to preserve, protect and enhance the High Line Canal. All volunteers are encouraged to bring their own masks, water and any other necessary items such as snacks to the stewardship events. Volunteers are highly encouraged to bring their own gloves such as work or gardening gloves. However, the Conservancy will provide gloves when needed. Please read the Summer 2021 Stewardship Procedures (on our website) for volunteers to adhere to in order to keep the Conservancy staff, volunteers and the Canal safe.
All volunteers must register and sign a waiver. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature and children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please wear appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes as volunteers will be walking through various terrain in varying weather conditions.
Please note that removing weeds is often physically intensive work and may require long periods of standing, walking, bending and lifting upwards of 10 pounds at a time. If you have any questions about if you should or should not participate, please email [email protected].
