W.A.W.O.G. Town Hall & Fundraiser for Palestine

Join Writers Against the War on Gaza (W.A.W.O.G.) on Saturday, April 5 from 2–9 PM for a community town hall at the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn (124 Henry St, Brooklyn).
Our programming — including panels , performances, and readings — will center on the right to return to stolen lands, the right to remain in the face of ongoing displacement, and the right to resist the systems of oppression that perpetuate dispossession worldwide. Our workshops will offer practical skills to the movement. Our raffle prizes include rare art prints, revolutionary literature, jewelry, and clothing. Food and coffee will be available throughout the day.
📣 As the Zionist regime intensifies its genocidal assault on Gaza and escalates the violent displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank, the fascist oligarchy of the United States has declared war on Palestinian and pro-Palestine activists on our campuses and in our communities. In these moments of heightened repression, we must remind ourselves that the struggle for liberation is not a choice but an imperative.

🌱 Ticket and raffle proceeds will go to Thamra, a Palestinian-run organization in the northern Gaza fostering food resilience and sovereignty by restoring and cultivating farm land; and PALSHIELD, which supports farming communities in the West Bank through the provision of life-saving medical supplies, protective gear, and training programs to defend against settler attacks.
🎟️ Tickets are sold on a sliding scale from $0-40 with the option to customize your donation amount. Please consider donating; even $5 goes a long way. Free childcare will be provided upon request, and can be selected as an "add-on" to your ticket purchase. Please scroll down within ticketing section to view all options.
♿ The space is wheelchair accessible via a ramp on the ground floor, with a chair lift available to access workshops and vendors on the second floor.
😷 Face masks will be distributed at the door. Masking protects your health and the health of others; it also helps protect your identity. Air purifiers will be dispersed throughout the venue.
⚠️ While will we have a security team ready to address unauthorized recording and engage disruptors and other bad actors, we encourage attendees to consider their own risk level and notify event organizers if you see anything suspicious or out of place. We keep us safe!
