WAVE∞FORMOne of Norway's most respected electronic music pioneers comes to Lillehammer!
Per Martinsen has operated under the artist name Mental Overdrive since the late 80s and is one of the most groundbreaking Norwegians in the genre of electronics as well being one of the first Norwegian techno musicians to make a big international impact.
Since the 90s, he has oriented himself more towards experimental techno, refining his own distinctive sound; an underground form that is full of details, layers with a thick spectrum of sonics that exerts an undeniable compositional mastery. Notwithstanding a healthy balance of humor and braininess.
Together with Biosphere and Röyksopp, Martinsen's work has been at the forefront of Tromsø's and Norway's techno and electronics elite for decades, for which he received the Norwegian Grammy Spellemannprisen in 2014.
Under the artist name WAVE∞FORM, Martinsen focuses on more abstract and ambient soundscapes as seen through the eyes of an alternative version of himself. A part of his "multidimensional autobiography" www.pyramidsonthemoon.com, where he presents three semi-fictional versions of himself, with accompanying different musical expressions.
WAVE∞FORM’s debut album “Waveform01” was released through LOVE OD COMMUNICATIONS in 2020, and the follow-up album UPON THESE WAVES I SLEEP is now ready for release.
The tracks on this new album were inspired by the subject matter of his artistic research project THE SEARCH FOR RESONANCE - a three year research project at UiT - The Arctic University of Tromsø. The new material explores alternative tuning systems and sometimes leans on music theory sourced from an intense research period looking at everything from sound healing to sonic levitation and ideas of sound as the very origin of the physical universe.
UPON THESE WAVES I SLEEP will be released on April 29th 2022.
WAVE∞FORM will perform in Kulturhuset Banken’s Festsalen

TATSURU ARAI
Hailing from Japan and resident in Berlin. Tatsuru Arai is a composer, sound-graphics programmer & creator of "Gesamtkunstwerk". After a solid decade of composition and computer programming studies in Tokyo, Graz and Berlin, including the exploration of 600 years of music history, his main artistic theme is to integrate classical compositions into new technology, as in „TRANS-AGES MUSIC“. His ambition is also to present the fundamental physical nature of the universe in the form of perceptual experiences that could show the aesthetics of “geometric structure”. The human perception of sound, a physical phenomenon, influences human beings, and the “geometric structure” is a fundamental pillar that allows us to understand the true nature of the universe - creating a way to experience even a part of the nature of the universe through sound.
Tatsuru Arai composes Hyper Serial Music, a form of algorithm music generated by state-of-the-art technology such as artificial intelligence rather than only using native human intelligence. He has been composing Hyper Serial Music since 2016 to add innovation to the principle of Serialism's three-points: "structural", "complex" and "noisy". He has already performed this work in over 70 cities.
Well known for his visualization of geometric abstract music - an attempt to realize the perception of music through a non-auditory sense. It is achieved by extracting and visualizing the “geometric structure” of music, which is an essential element in perception of music and is a manifestation of sound, an aone physical phenomenon.
Arai has worked and performed at international Art/Music Festival/,Kinetica Art Festival(London
UK) Tunisia Fashion week (Tunis Tunisia), REMAKE Festival (Berlin Germany) ,Neukölln fashion night Nemona (Berlin Germany), Tanztage (Berlin Germany) Sajeta - Art & Music Festival(Slovenia) B-Seite Festival(Mannheim Germany), Flow Festival (Helsinki Finland) Signal Festival 2017 (Cagliari Italy), intermediale Festival (Legnica Poland), CTM Transmediale festival (Berlin Germany), Klankvorm (Rotterdam Netherlands), MADATAC Festival (Madrid Spain), MAteraINtermedia festival (Matera Italy), Sonic Acts festival (Amsterdam Netherlands), Gogbot Festival (Enschend Netherlands),Generate!_lab Festival (Tübingen Germany), ACT Festival (Gwanju South Korea), H.C. Special after-show DJ set in the Salon by CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!
Ambient boogie, faux-oriental disco, electronic music? Prolific artist and producer Center of the Universe has produced countless albums in his unique idiosyncratic style. He's further known by many as a remixer, and for uncountable performances in various locations often other than music venues. Inspired by folk music and rhythmic excesses from all over the world Center of the Universe has been active in the Norwegian underground music scene since 1998 and has in addition to participating in several other projects, found the time to release a whole host of solo albums. What apparently may begin as a pop song entices you into a world where nothing is as it seems and musical expectations are seldom met.
Come join us for an after-show drink and Center of the Universe' exotic selection of tunes in the Kulturhuset Banken Salongen.
