The Watershed Education Experience is a comprehensive overview of stream and wetland basic ecology developed to deepen understanding of watersheds and the interconnections between humans, forests, wetlands, streams, and fish and wildlife. This course is an excellent introduction to stream and wetland ecology for everyone interested in the natural world and the ecology of the Pacific Northwest, and most of the learning takes place outside on the beautiful grounds of the Northwest Stream Center.
2024 attendees of the WEE, included groups such as nonprofits; Whale Watch, Puget Soundkeeper, the Duwamish Green River Coalition, and the Seattle Aquarium, county representatives from Surface Water Management, Parks & Recreation, Public Health, and Conservation Districts, as well as teachers, lawyers, stream-side landowners, students, and citizen scientists.
The 2025 sessions will be held on the last Friday of the month, March-July.
Current available class dates include:
March 28th, April 25th, May 30th, June 27th & July 25th.
Each session can accommodate up to 15 attendees.
