Join The Chery Pit for a FREE Sunday Night Beading Workshop!

A local Dene and Two-Spirit artist, Red Plume Woman, will be teaching us how to bead watermelon pins that we can wear to show our support for a free and unoccupied Palestine! This a free event and spots are very limited so please only RSVP if you are confident that you will be attending. Because this is a free event, we highly encourage those who can to donate to fundraisers supporting people in Gaza. At the event, we will have information available about some GoFundMes that you can directly donate to.

This is a space to find solidarity and community. This is not a space to debate or argue with each other. We are here to show our support and care for oppresed people around the world.

Accessibility:

Entrance to Magpie Books has a 3 inch lift from the sidewalk. Our door is 30 inches wide and not automatic. In the warmer months, the door is propped open. When the door is closed, the staff are happy to assist. Please give them a call at 780-435-0538 if you require assistance.

Magpie Books have a single occupancy washroom in the back of our store with a door that is 28 inches wide. Inside they have a grab rail and sink at 35 inches height from the ground. Th toilet seat is 16 inches from the ground.

The washroom is open to the public.

Magpie Books has snacks on hand for those who have low blood sugar or need something to eat. They are openly available and you do not need to ask for them.

The point of sale counter is 37 inches high. They have seating available throughout the shop. Throughout the store there are several tables with book displays that are 35 inches high.

The floor is slightly uneven towards the middle. There is a small drop of a few inches with a ramp.

COVID19: Magpie Books provides free masks to anyone who would like one.

The Cherry Pit is a local grassroots collective created with the goal of providing accessible community care through art engagements, outreach, and knowledge sharing. The collective is made up of artists, community workers, people with lived experience being part of marginalized communities, and those who share our values and want to support community.
