Since 1980, Sunny Shores Sea Camp has been helping families and mentoring children with Cystic Fibrosis. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Cystic Fibrosis was once exclusively known as a pediatric disease, for most did not survive their adolescent years. Thanks to recent advances in medicine, most CF’ers are living into their 30’s, 40’s and beyond. This camp is a retreat for families living with CF. In memory of my brother, Peter Kavanagh (27). Peter was a camper at SSSC for twenty years. Exercise, nutrition, family and friends were very important to him, and SSSC allowed him to live his life to the fullest. He made friends that were just like him, experiencing what he was experiencing. We were able to build life-long friendships with people who understood the hardships we faced, and brought hope to us in times of darkness. Peter was an outdoor enthusiast, and he loved to lift others’ spirits up with optimism and hope.
