WaterMarks: Grasslyn Manor Community Walk

Join us on a walking tour of Grasslyn Manor and learn about how water affects the neighborhood, including the community efforts behind, “Help Build the Ark Water Management Project.”

Artist and Sherman Park neighbor, Debbie Sajnani will be leading the walk along with Milwaukee Water Storyteller, Michael Timm. They will be discussing the history of how and why water affects our area and ways that we can rally to reduce flooding.

They will also be discussing their work with WaterMarks, which has chosen our neighborhood for their next WaterMarker.

All ages from any neighborhood welcome!

Following the walk, WaterMarks will have refreshments and will be hosting an optional post-walk focus group.This is a chance for community members to discuss what they have learned and give feedback. A $25 gift card will be provided for your participation/feedback in the focus group.

WaterMarks is an informal science initiative that engages neighborhoods with their freshwater systems. We pair local artists with scientific experts, to organize walks within the communities we work. These walks encourage residents and stakeholders to think about the social and ecological challenges their communities face, and how these challenges can be overcome at the intersection of art and science. This walk will be a part WaterMarks programming in Sherman Park, leading up to a new public art installation (created by Debbie Sajnani), as well as a new WaterMarker. The WaterMarker will serve as a beacon, a WiFi hotspot, and will pulse when there is an active MMSD Water Drop Alert.
