Waterloo Makes Music is a free monthly concert series, presented by Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present, Future, showcasing acts from the Cleveland music scene at various locations in the Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District.
Quenton Rubin
Quenton “Que” Rubin is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Cleveland, Ohio who blends the best of funk, rock and soul. Que has performed with a range of artists from two-time Grammy-nominated and AMA-winning R&B artist Al B Sure on the 1988 Heartbreak Tour with New Edition and Bobby Brown, to collaborating with Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars. He’s also played with Levert, Meli’sa Morgan and Keith Sweat and Brenda K. Starr. After taking an extended hiatus, in 2022 Que returned to the music scene to perform with local bands. In 2024, Que continued to ignite the stage with his own band, QRB, bringing a new wave of irresistible grooves and soulful funk. With each phase, Que has pushed the boundaries of his artistry, leaving a legacy of innovation and passion in the world of music.

Jack & The Optimists
Geared to the specific sound and style of early mid 1960s Britain, Jack McLaughlin draws inspiration from artists like; “The Who” for instrument abandon; “The Small Faces” for soul and grit; and “The Beatles” for definitive composition.
The lyrics and melodies offer fresh perspective on being young and positive while the slightly broken brightness of the twelve string tone rings through rhythms and catches the ear during leads. The writing flare is unique and includes middle eight chord progressions that welcome the melodic choruses.
Jack earned his BA in music at Cleveland State University in May of 2025 and his associates degree in Recording Arts at Tri-C. He is working on his third full length album and can be seen at local Cleveland venues with his band Jack & The Optimists. Playing out live since he was sixteen, Jack is a seasoned performer and puts on a great show.
Please sign up for his mailing list, join his social media platforms and come out to support his live music.
