Watercolour Workshop: Painted Doorways
About this Event
Join Maria Parra, a Venezuelan watercolor artist, for a fun and inspiring Watercolor Workshop Series! Each session explores a unique theme, making it perfect for beginners and those looking to enhance their skills.
Ever looked at a charming storefront or a flower-draped doorway and thought, "I wish I could paint that"? This workshop is your chance.
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on painting session where you'll explore the whimsical world of watercolor architecture. Using three reference photos of beautifully detailed house facades — think purple shutters, ivy-covered walls, potted blooms, and cozy awnings — you'll learn how to translate photos into loose, expressive watercolor paintings, all filtered through your own artistic voice.
What you'll learn:
· Basic watercolor techniques: washes, layering, and color blending
· How to simplify architectural details without losing charm
· Adding personality through color choices, plants, and small imaginative touches
· Letting go of "getting it exactly right" and painting with confidence instead
What to expect:
No prior painting experience needed — just a willingness to experiment and make a few "happy accidents" along the way. Each participant will work from the same three house photos, but no two paintings will look alike. That's the magic of it.
If you're ready to set perfectionism aside, pick up a brush, and bring a beautiful little house to life on paper, we'll be waiting for you.
