Watercolour Painting for Beginners

[Workshops A & B are the same level but with different workshop content]

At a time where everyone seems to spend an increasing amount of time on screens, you may be looking for a new hobby which takes you away from the digital world – this could be just what you’re looking for!

This beginners workshop is an introduction to watercolour painting at the wonderful Fisherton Mill in Salisbury. Come along for a morning of exploration, discovery, and an opportunity to ‘play’, whilst enjoying the relaxation and mindfulness it brings. I will introduce you to watercolour paints, how to mix colours and some key techniques that will give you some foundations for watercolour painting.

Absolutely no painting or drawing experience is needed. You’ll have fun, whilst being creative and you’ll meet some new people at the same time!

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes are available to order from the Fisherton Mill Gallery Café during the workshop, and there is a generous 20% discount available on the excellent lunch menu for afterwards.

A little bit about me

Many members of my family have enjoyed creative pursuits. For my granny it was oil painting, for my grandpa it was woodwork and sculpture. My dad loved to draw and paint and my mum had endless projects on the go from sewing and knitting, to embroidery and rug making, from patchwork quilting to upholstery. Growing up, I tried many things and I loved learning new skills.

There followed a wonderful career in teaching, six years in the UK and thirty three years overseas, the vast majority of which was in Singapore. Now retired, I have returned to England and settled in Salisbury.

Three years ago, I began to paint with watercolours and I was smitten from the very start. Self-taught, I've sold paintings and cards at craft fairs, painted many one-off commissions for wedding presents and gifts, and opened my Etsy Shop.

Now I hope to inspire others to embrace their creative side and enjoy the wonderful world of watercolour!
