If you visited the 2025 Deniliquin Easter Art Show, you’ll already know the power of Nina Volk’s work — her luminous watercolour took out Best in Show, and captivated local audiences with its bold yet delicate style.Now, Deniliquin artists have the rare opportunity to learn directly from Nina in a special two-day workshop hosted by the Edward River Art Society.
Over the weekend, Nina will guide participants through the delicate balance of looseness and realism in watercolour, followed by techniques for capturing luminous, atmospheric light. This workshop is designed for artists with a basic knowledge of watercolour who want to loosen up their style, grow in confidence, and bring more life and emotion into their work.
Workshop Day 1 – Loose Yet Realistic Watercolour
Learn how to create dynamic, expressive paintings while maintaining the essence of your subject. Explore tone, brushwork, and minimal detail to create vibrant impressions, and discover what to leave in — and what to leave out.
Workshop Day 2 – Ethereal Light in Watercolour
Delve into the magic of light, and how it interacts with colour and form. Nina will demonstrate key techniques for creating atmosphere and glow, helping you evoke a sense of space, softness, and emotion in your paintings.
Both days include live demonstrations, practical exercises, and personal feedback to help you refine your approach.
About Nina
Nina Volk is a nationally recognised artist known for her luminous watercolours, contemporary style, and generosity as a teacher. Since becoming a full-time artist in 2021, she has won over 15 major awards — including Best in Show at Deniliquin, Bright, Bellarine and Victor Harbor — and was selected to represent Australia at Fabriano in Aquarello (Italy) in 2025.
