Botanical Watercolour Painting ~ Autumn Fruits with Karen GreenSaturday 28th September 2024

Working from a seasonal Autumn fruits such as quince, berries, figs and apples, you will learn how to compose, draw and paint from observation, using watercolour, to create a botanical painting that reflects an understanding of the subject whilst capturing the beauty of the plant.
Karen, a botanical artist, will ease you into the workshop with some playful drawing exercises. Leading on from this, through a little bit of botany exploration, she will guide and support you to create a detailed observational drawing of the flower. With one to one support and class demonstrations, you will experiment with watercolour techniques and accurate colour mixing to paint your flower and finish by working in pencil to draw the bulb and root system, thinking about light and shadows. During the session you will familiarize yourself with the materials and tools needed for botanical art and the techniques used, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.
