Join artist Paloma Vianey for a hands-on watercolor workshop inspired by her current exhibition at the Mexican Cultural Institute. Through an introduction to color theory and monochromatic painting techniques, participants will explore how color can evoke memory, place, and emotion.
Drawing inspiration from the artist’s exploration of visual connections between Ciudad Juárez and Washington, DC, participants will create their own pair of monochromatic diptychs based on places, memories, or landscapes that are meaningful to them, while learning the fundamentals of watercolor painting. No previous experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

ABOUT PALOMA VIANEY:
Paloma Vianey is an interdisciplinary artist from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, whose work explores themes of memory, place, migration, and identity. She holds a BA in Art History from The University of Texas at El Paso and an MFA from Cornell University. Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Phillips Collection, the Mexican Cultural Institute, and the El Paso Museum of Art. A recipient of numerous awards and grants in Mexico and the United States, Vianey has also completed artist residencies in Spain, Germany, and the United States.
