10 AM - 1 PM
All Levels Welcome, no experience necessary
Number of Students: Max 10
$40, all supplies provided
Introducing Michelle Montes, a professional watercolor artist and paper specialist at Hahnemühle. Join Michelle for a hands-on workshop, where we'll revisit the foundational skills that are often skipped — starting with the most important one: stretching your own watercolor paper.
Instead of relying on pre-stretched blocks, you'll learn a reliable method for creating a flat, drum-tight surface that won't buckle under heavy washes. Then, you'll apply it immediately to core techniques:
Smooth, even gradation washes
Controlled wet-into-wet effects on stretched paper
Effective application and removal of masking fluid
Stretching your own paper gives you predictable water flow, cleaner edges, fewer blooms and back-runs, easier lifting and reworking, and a noticeably more professional finish. Large washes, crisp details, and subtle textures all become far easier to achieve.
All supplies are provided. Space is limited — bring your questions and get ready to paint!
