Explore the beautiful intersection of watercolor and calligraphy in this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop. Guided by experienced instructor Linda Kinder, participants will learn the basics of calligraphic script and simple floral watercolor techniques, then combine the two to create a personalized painting featuring a meaningful word or message.
Linda, who has taught students of all ages for decades, will share her approach to achieving expressive, whimsical results while encouraging creativity at every level. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to play, learn, and create!
Watercolor Painting Supply List
· Watercolor paper pad (Strathmore brand is a good place to start)
· Watercolor paintbrushes in a variety of sizes
o -fine tip, medium and large (they will be a softer sable compared to oil painting brushes) both flat and round sets
· Watercolor paint: primary colors (Windsor Newton brand or better)
o -ultramarine, lemon yellow, cadmium red, black, and white (are the minimum colors, you are welcome to bring more)
· Painters Tape
· Sketchpad to take notes and sketch a composition before you paint
· Pencil and eraser
· Photo reference appropriate to the topic
The museum will provide rulers, hair dryers, and backing boards, but you may want these for your own practice.
