About this Event
Join us for a compelling and inspiring conversation celebrating endurance, environmental stewardship, and the power of women in water.
On the anniversary of the first woman to swim the English Channel, we honor Michelle Goodwin, who recently completed her own English Channel crossing. Michelle will share her journey, from the grueling physical and mental preparation to the moment she stepped onto the shores of France, highlighting the personal and symbolic significance of her swim. In dialogue with Diane Walton, board member of , the conversation will explore the intersection of athletic achievement and environmental advocacy.
Diane will speak to Baykeeper’s mission to protect and restore the Bay’s ecosystems, ensuring clean water for wildlife and safe conditions for swimmers like Michelle. Together, they’ll discuss the urgent need to combat pollution, support marine biodiversity, and foster a healthier future for the Bay Area’s waters. This talk is a celebration of resilience, a call to action for environmental responsibility, and a tribute to the legacy of women who dare to cross boundaries—both literal and figurative.
