Rancho Los Alamitos presents

Water Gardening in Small Spaces Workshop

Sunday, August 4, 2024

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

$25 per person. $20 for RLA members. Free onsite parking.

In this workshop, we will explore the world of small-scale water gardening, focusing on how to create and maintain a sustainable, contained water garden using California native plants.

Water gardening is a unique and rewarding way to add natural beauty and serenity to any outdoor space. Also, it is an excellent way to incorporate both native plants and water sources for wildlife. With the use of containers, we can create water gardens in places where you don't need a lot of space, like patios, and balconies.

This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in learning about water gardening, who might not have a lot of gardening space, and/or discovering new ways to incorporate California native plants into their outdoor gardens. It will include an illustrated lecture, a tour, and a planting demonstration. We hope you join us!

Andrew Chaves is the Rancho's Director of Operations and a passionate horticulturist, dedicated educator, and a certified UC California Naturalist. He is committed to inspiring and educating about plants and the importance of native plant gardening. Andrew's workshops are engaging and hands-on, with plenty of opportunities for participants to get their hands dirty, and learn by doing. His teaching philosophy revolves around creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. He believes that native plant horticulture is not just about growing plants but also about cultivating a deep connection with nature and developing a sense of stewardship towards our environment.
