About this Event

Watch This Space - Free Walking Tour - Initiatives for Resilience

Come join us for a fascinating walking tour exploring various initiatives aimed at building capacity in our communities. From sustainable practices to innovative projects, this tour will showcase the efforts being made to create a more resilient and sustainable future.

Led by curators Andrea Lacalamita and Julie Nicholson, the walk begins at 175 Bellwoods Ave and makes its way along Dundas Street West. Along the route, selected photographs from the Watch This Space exhibition will anchor short stops and conversations with individuals whose initiatives are featured. This is more than a walking tour — it is a roving conversation and an opportunity to experience stories of resilience, creativity, and design in an unusual public context.

The afternoon concludes at the Dundas & Manning intersection, where tea will be provided. This closing reception offers a final opportunity to connect with others, continue the conversation, and celebrate the exhibition before it closes.

About Watch This Space:

Watch This Space is a free community event and photographic exhibition, together offering an active social format that encourages visitors to explore initiatives that foster resilience. You’re invited to join in tours, talks, and informal gatherings, while engaging with the sidewalks, street corners, and other publicly shared resources being utilised in uncommon ways.

The photo exhibition is also a chance to interact with the street as an all-hours “gallery,” where images are displayed in multiple storefront windows along Dundas Street West and viewable 24/7.

Hosted by the Trinity Bellwoods BIA, the exhibition runs August 16–17 and October 18–19, 2025.

About the Curators:

Julie Nicholson and Andrea Lacalamita share a history of engaging communities in the design of their city through projects such as Do Design and In-Context. Their work builds on themes of equity, belonging, and sustainable design.
