Richard Lee Sisco Jr. was born on February 20, 1960 to Helen Pope Sisco and Richard Lee Sisco Sr. The second of 6 children raised in Monterey Houses located in The Bronx, New York.

From the beginning Richard Lee Sisco Jr. loved music and art, this love drove him to attend the High School of Music and Art and was one of the few students who majored in both music and art programs. After graduating high school in 1979, Richard attended New York City College and the Brooklyn Museum of Art Scholarship program.

Richard Lee Sisco was one of the pioneers in the early/fundamental days of Hip Hop during the 70’s and 80’s. Richard became known as Sisco Kid which would be his Hip Hop name. Sisco Kid produced most of the flyers for the early hip hop jams promoting the Cold Crush Brothers and other early MC’s and DJs.

As an actor his most popular role and part was in the movie “Beat Street”, and the story boards on Krush Groove. In addition to acting, Richard was also an artist where he has credits for his artwork on Krush Groove. In addition to his love for Hip Hop Richard was an extraordinary and accomplished Saxophonist, song writer, DJ, and studio engineer.

Richards Lee Sisco started a career with The New York City Housing Authority Community Centers, where he became known as “Sisco”. Sisco taught music and art to children in the neighborhoods where most would be forgotten. He enjoyed helping the community grow and was always encouraging the youth through music and art.

Hip Hop shaped Sisco in so many ways which taught him many life lessons. His verse in “Beat Street” was known in the neighborhood and all who knew the movie would recite the lyrics every time they saw him.

Richard Lee Sisco Jr. passed away on December 14, 2010, from a six-month battle with colon cancer. Leaving behind a beautiful and important legacy of being a Hip Hop Pioneer and one of the first to be on the scene.
