Watch & Pray: Civics 101

With Election Day drawing near, Awaken Ministries is hosting this event to help believers better understand government, grow in biblical literacy, and pray with greater understanding for our leaders, communities, and nation.

At Awaken Ministries, we believe the Church should not be disconnected from what is happening in the world around us. Our mission includes awakening hearts to God’s truth and equipping people to live empowered by the Holy Spirit. Watch & Pray is an extension of that mission—creating space to become informed without being consumed by the moment, return to Scripture for truth, seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment, and pray with purpose.

Our guest speaker, Frank Steele, brings extensive knowledge and expertise in civics and government. He will provide an accessible overview designed to strengthen our understanding of how government works, the power and responsibility of our vote, and why informed civic participation matters—especially as we prepare for Election Day.

This is an educational and nonpartisan gathering, not an endorsement of any candidate or political party.

We will move through the Watch & Pray framework:

WATCH — Understand what is happening and become better informed.
KNOW THE WORD — Return to Scripture and allow biblical truth to shape our perspective.
DISCERN — Seek the wisdom and leading of the Holy Spirit rather than simply reacting to culture, politics, or fear.
PRAY — Intercede intentionally for our leaders, communities, nation, and the Church.

Scripture calls us to pray for “kings and all those in authority” (1 Timothy 2:1–2). As Election Day approaches, this is an opportunity to consider how we can faithfully steward both our prayers and our civic responsibility.

Our ultimate hope is not in a political party, candidate, or government—it is in Jesus Christ. Yet we are called to be people of prayer, wisdom, discernment, and faithful stewardship in the places where God has positioned us.

You do not need to be politically active or knowledgeable about government to attend. Come ready to learn, open the Word, ask questions, and pray.
