WAT22 1st Annual 5K Memorial Ruck March

• Remember all veterans and active duty military lost to suicide
• Increase public awareness of veteran and suicide prevention resources
• Raise support for We Are the 22's mission to combat veteran suicide

The first ever We Are the 22 5K Memorial Ruck March will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, beginning and ending at the Argenta Plaza in North Little Rock.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to We Are the 22's Mission.

Marchers should expect a roughly flat course crossing from North Little Rock into Little Rock and back again. The ruck march will begin at Argenta Plaza and head north, moving counter clockwise on the route pictured below. It will be hot, so be sure to start hydrating the night before the march! Bring sun protection and water! There will be two free hydration points for marchers: one at the beginning/end of the route and one half way through.

We Are the 22 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to combat the veteran suicide epidemic through direct, peer-based suicide intervention. When suicide prevention efforts fail, WAT22 goes on site to help the veteran directly. To date, we have responded to 328 Arkansas veterans who were in suicidal crisis.

Our name comes from the research data that indicates 22 U.S. veterans commit suicide every single day.

We Are the 22 was founded in 2017 after valor decorated combat veteran Mikel Brooks' unsuccessful suicide attempt. He vowed to do everything in his power to be physically present when he was made aware of a veteran in suicidal crisis.
