The Boucherouite technique is a captivating method of upcycling leftover fabric scraps into vibrant and functional pieces such as rugs floor mats T-shirt patches and hair accessories by weaving or knotting. It originated with the Berber people and is an eco-friendly way to reuse materials that might otherwise be thrown away.
The term "Boucherouite" is derived from the Arabic word by sherwit meaning "a piece torn from pre-used clothing." The mix of different materials gives these creations a rich textured feel.
This technique involves weaving together an eclectic mix of fabric remnants resulting in visually stunning and unique designs. Through this workshop you'll explore the rich history and cultural significance of the Boucherouite technique while mastering the skills to transform your own fabric waste into beautiful and sustainable works of art.
