About this Event
P LEASE NOTE THAT THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT SHOWN ABOVE IS ONLY APPROXIMATE AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED; IT WILL DEPEND ON FACTORS SUCH AS THE WEATHER AND THE WALKING PACE OF THE GROUP.
Join this leisurely ramble with a Birmingham Ramblers group leader and enjoy social walking with our friendly members.
It is very helpful for the walk leader to have prior knowledge of numbers that will be on this walk. We ask you to complete this very brief form to help with our planning of the walk to ensure that we can safely accommodate all who wish to join us. You will receive an automatic acknowledgement when you submit this form, and also a reminder of the details 2 days before the walk.
If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to [email protected] - this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you. Please note that some walks have a waiting list so this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you.
Walk leader: John Chapman; Mobile number 0750 561 7458
Meeting arrangements:
BY CAR. The Car Park is located at the Country Park at Gannow Green Lane, Rubery Birmingham, B45 9AT. At the time of writing the parking charge is £3.00 for the full day.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT: By Number 63 Bus towards Frankley. The required end bus stop is the first stop after the bus has turned right from New Inns Lane into Boleyn Road (this bus stop is labelled Boleyn Rd/Crompton Rd. Nearest postcode B45 0NU). The Country Park is then accessed via the well-marked public footpath on New Inns Lane opposite Boleyn Road. This footpath leads up to the car park and the Windmill Café. If possible, please advise the Walk Leader by text when you are on the bus so that he is aware that you are on your way.
The walk starts at 10.30 am from the Windmill Café in Waseley Country Park. We walk first down to the new Crematorium grounds and return to the Café, then climb to the top of Waseley Hill to take in the views on either side. Overall, the Walk is 4 miles long with a height gain of around 250 ft. There are no stiles. Underfoot is partly firm paths, partly grass, with some muddy patches (depending on weather). There are Public Toilets at the car park. Attendees may wish to visit the Café for refreshments at the end of the walk. There is outside seating nearby for those wishing to bring a picnic.
Expressions of Interest for this walk will close at 06.00 on Tuesday 20 May. After this, please to enquire about any late availability for the walk.
