Title: Rescuing the Gifford Observatory from ruin
Duncan Hall
Duncan Hall is a long-standing member of WAS, and a former Council Member and Treasurer. He was a member of the team that rescued the Gifford Observatory and brought it back to life.
He writes: 'We always knew there would be challenges in retrofitting the 100-year old Gifford Observatory to become a modern, future-proofed facility primarily accessed via the Web.' In this talk, Duncan will 'describe a selection of the challenges encountered and responses that we developed, keeping in mind the goal of recommissioning the Observatory in time for its 100th birthday on 1 December 2024.'
