The event will feature a lively conversation between two of the book's editors, Warren Cariou and Lorena Fontaine, as they delve into the creation of this updated guide and its significance in shaping culturally appropriate and ethical writing practices.

This groundbreaking book continues the legacy of the late Gregory Younging, offering updated and expanded principles for writing, editing, and publishing projects involving Indigenous Peoples. With five new chapters and enhanced content reflecting the latest Indigenous-led best practices, the second edition covers topics ranging from Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer identities to Indigenous citation practices and digital representation.
Warren Cariou, a writer, scholar, and artist of Red River Métis and European heritage, is based at the University of Manitoba. His work spans fiction, memoir, and criticism, focusing on Indigenous cultures and environmental issues. He also serves as General Editor of the First Voices, First Text series.
Lorena Sekwan Fontaine, of Cree and Anishinaabe heritage and a member of the Sagkeeng First Nation, is Head of the Department of Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba. An advocate for Indigenous language rights and a recognized voice on residential school legacies, she has published extensively and had her research featured in the CBC documentary Undoing Linguicide.
