Want to join this beginner's needle felting class with felting artist Martha Silver Breninger?

What is needle felting?
Needle felting is a dry fiber‑art technique where barbed needles repeatedly poke wool fibers to tangle and compress them into firm shapes, allowing creation of both 2D felt sheets and detailed 3D sculptures. it uses notched or barbed needles that catch and interlock wool fibers as the needles move in and out. This process gradually compacts loose wool into a solid form.

WHO IS YOUR TEACHER?
Martha Silver Breninger. Martha has been a felting artist for over 11 years now and teaches this beautiful craft all over Australia. She sculpts with wool fibre and also polymer clay. She loves to create fantasy creatures, dragons, fae, her popular Greenmen dolls, animals, mermaids and so much more. she has a vast body of work and an amazing imagination. Martha lives In Rye, Victoria with her Husband and 3 kids. she is also a painter in acrylic, oil and alcohol inks.
Martha is an international artist who has collectors of her work all over the world. She is passionate with creating a space where people feel connected to themselves through creativity. her art was born during a time of healing through significant trauma, and she always wants to create a place where others can feel the healing power of self-expression. she creates a space that is safe, real and loving. She encourages students to be mindful of their inner critic and harshness, by gently reminding you that creativity can be a mirror for our relationship to self. she encourages the mirror to be self-love, self-nurturing, self-acceptance in a relaxed environment and without too much seriousness. she loves a laugh and a bit of silliness.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
In this class you will be creating a needle felting doll. A doll is a great way to start learning how to do this fun, unique craft and is where Martha started her journey with felting. it involves making many different shapes, working with core wool and finer fibers. in these beginners class it's all about experimenting and using our imagination alongside technique. This class is designed to nurture intuitive creative expression, relaxation, laughter and play. Finding your own creative essence in a wonderful, creative environment is food for our souls and is what makes people love creating. No doll will be the same at the end of the day. after the felting process you can embellish your piece with beautiful natural dried flowers and crystals.
expect to fall in love with this interesting process, to enjoy the stabby stab sounds, meet new friends, have a laugh and feel relaxed.
we will also have a break for afternoon tea once we have created the core shape (before we add colour)

FAQ:
CAN I CREATE ONE LIKE MARTHAS PIECES I SEE ONLINE? yes, if you see a faceless doll on her Facebook page or Etsy that you love, show her the photo in class and she will help you, even if it's just a part of the dolls design you like.
WHY DONT WE DO FACES? I started making dolls to begin with without faces and it's a simple place to start. faces are a bit more advances for beginners, but if you want to add some structure to the round face, you can if it feels right for you.
WHERE DO I FIND MATERIALS TO KEEP FELTING AFTER CLASS? I sell everything you need to start your felting journey. I have a beautiful, carded Corriedale wool available that isn't found in most stores. i also sell needles, blocks and core wool, dried flowers and my own sculptures.
IS THERE SOMETHING INSIDE THE DOLL THAT WE WORK AROUND? No, your doll will be made entirely from wool. core batting and coloured Corriedale wool. some silk fibres are used too.
WHAT KIND OF DOLLS DO WE MAKE? these are experimental classes where things can unfold and magic happens. you do have options to make a doll with a flower crown, felted witch's hat, cape or wings.
