Situated to the north east of Bradford City Centre were two districts called Wapping and Bermondsey, both adjacent to one another. Wapping developed into a large neighbourhood during the 19th Century whilst Bermondsey was largely lost thanks to the railway coming into the area. Today, both places have been radically transformed and neither area is referred to by its original name. Why did this happen, and why two districts with names that refer to London areas? Delivered by Jonathan Crewdson, Director of the Neighbourhood Project, this talk will look at the history of Wapping and Bermondsey: two of Bradford's lost and forgotten neighbourhoods. It is free and will take place at the Millside Centre on the corner of Grattan Road and Thornton Road. Light refreshments will be provided.
IMPORTANT! Please do not just turn up for this event. To book on, please either email us using [email protected] or telephone or text Jonathan Crewdson on 07422 715910.
