Growing up on the grounds of one of the largest psychiatric clinics in Germany is somehow different. For Joachim, the clinic director's youngest son, the patients are like family. They are also much kinder to him than his two older brothers, who provoke him into outbursts of anger. His mother, a watercolour painter, longs for Italian summer nights instead of the constant German rain, while his father secretly, but not discreetly enough, goes his own way. But as Joachim slowly grows up, his world begins to crack, and not just because of the loss of his first love...

Grandir dans le complexe d'un des plus grands hรดpitaux psychiatriques d'Allemagne est quelque peu diffรฉrent. Pour Joachim, le plus jeune fils du directeur, les patients* sont comme une famille. Ils sont aussi beaucoup plus gentils avec lui que ses deux frรจres aรฎnรฉs, qui le provoquent ร des crises de colรจre. Sa mรจre, peintre aquarelliste, rรชve des nuits d'รฉtรฉ italiennes face ร la pluie incessante allemande, tandis que son pรจre suit secrรจtement, mais pas assez discrรจtement, son propre chemin. Mais alors que Joachim grandit lentement, son monde se fissure de plus en plus, et cela pas seulement ร cause de la perte de son premier grand amour...
