The Walsall Wood Toy & Train Collectors Fair is a major collectors’ event held at the Oak Park Active Living Centre in Walsall Wood, United Kingdom. It brings together enthusiasts, families, specialist traders, and exhibitors with an interest in toys, model railways, transport memorabilia, and related collectibles. The fair is designed as a welcoming gathering for visitors to browse displays, discover unusual and nostalgic items, meet fellow collectors, and explore a broad range of interests connected with toy and train collecting.
The event has a substantial scale, with approximately 11,000 visitors and 560 exhibitors, giving it a lively and varied atmosphere. Exhibitors contribute collections, trading stands, models, and memorabilia, creating opportunities for both experienced collectors and newcomers to engage with the hobby. The fair’s audience reach extends across the United Kingdom, reflecting its importance within the national collecting community. Its venue provides a suitable setting for a large specialist fair, supporting a day of discovery, conversation, and appreciation of toys, model trains, and associated transport themes.
The wider material supplied also reflects the heritage of classic vehicle and model collecting communities associated with similar events. Tributes acknowledge figures such as Roy Lythgoe, who was known as an exhibitor of classic vehicles and a member of the Transtar Events Team, and Bill Whittaker, a respected coach operator and collector of miniature General Buses and model buses. Their involvement illustrates the strong connections between toy collecting, model transport, historic vehicles, and enthusiast-led events. Collectors may particularly recognize model releases associated with Whittaker’s vehicles, including limited-edition bus models.
The event also represents the continuing enthusiasm and community spirit found among collectors, exhibitors, clubs, and public supporters. Contributions from traders, displayers, organizers, marshals, caterers, security teams, first-aid personnel, venue staff, families, and volunteers help create a smooth and enjoyable experience. With its large visitor base, extensive exhibitor presence, and broad UK audience, the Walsall Wood Toy & Train Collectors Fair offers an engaging opportunity to celebrate collecting, preserve transport and toy heritage, and share knowledge across generations.
