The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum presents the 2022 lecture series, featuring a wide range of speakers offering diverse perspectives and unique insights on Pikes Peak regional history.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In 2022, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Chicana/o/x murals of Colorado as one of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. In this lecture, Nancy Ríos, PhD, Education Director of the Chicanx Murals of Colorado Project will illustrate how muralism has been transforming public spaces in Colorado since the Civil Rights Era, how muralism embodies community histories of resistance, and why we need to protect these visual texts.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Dr. Nancy Ríos serves as Education Director at the Chicanx Murals of Colorado Project (CMCP), a non-profit organization that protects, promotes, and preserves the visual legacy of Chicana/o/x murals in the state of Colorado.
