About this Event

Explore North Beach and reveal the locations of dozens of queer-friendly spaces as far back as the 19th century in San Francisco's original "gayborhood." You'll learn about a Latinx drag queen who outwitted the police, a Black bisexual singer who lit up marquees, and scores of straight allies who fought and won victories for the early queer community.

This 90-minute walk guides you through the historic and scenic sites of the Jackson Square district. We'll end with a round of drinks at a former lesbian bar (included in the price of your ticket)!

Before the Castro, Stonewall, or the rainbow flag, learn how brave queer people made visible the “unspeakable vice” of the Victorians and, through the process, gained a voice.
